The pouch is in, there’s no denying it. An easy and chic cousin of the clutch, the pouch is everywhere from Celine to American Apparel. The DIY below brings some of the unfinished weaves from Bottega and Chanel 2011 into the pouch trend using nubby yarn and a large vinyl zipper pouch.
The pouch I used is a vinyl travel pouch from the Container Store that closes with a zipper. Cut pieces of your yarn that are about 4 inches longer than the diagonal length of your pouch.
Start sewing these in on a diagonal, starting with your needle from the outside of the pouch, and being sure to finish with the needle on the outside of the pouch- this will make the fringe. Leave long pieces of the yarn hanging, you can trim these when you are done. There is no need to knot the yarn to hold it in place.
Continue doing this across the entire pouch on either just one side or on both sides. Then trim the ends of the yarn so you have an even fringe on each edge.
